EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Lockhart Fire & Rescue’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is charged with coordinating the city's Emergency Management program. Activities include developing emergency plans, operating warning systems, offering disaster preparedness training, conducting drills, and exercises,  and public education programs. The program operates through the four emergency management phases: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Turn Around Don't Drown
The Texas Disaster Act of 1975 designates the mayor as the director of the local emergency management program. The mayor has designated the Fire Chief, Randy Jenkins, as the Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) to manage the day-to-day operations of the program.  Contact Randy Jenkins at 512-398-2321 or rjenkins@lockhart-tx.org.

Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

The city operates an EOC at Police Headquarters located at 214 Bufkin Lane in response to an emergency or local disaster. The EOC is activated by designated personnel from city departments such as; Police, Fire, Administration and Public Works. 

 Emergency Warning

The City of Lockhart notifies citizens of emergency incidents such as tornados, chemical spills, flooding, etc., by the following systems:

  • Outdoor Warning Sirens: The city maintains and operates five (5) Outdoor Warning Sirens strategically located throughout the city to warn citizens of tornados, severe weather events such as large hail, and chemical emergencies.   • WarnCentralTexas: Is a Regional Notification System developed for Central Texas and administered by the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG).The warning system will notify citizens of Lockhart by text, Email, or phone call for emergencies such as; Tornados, severe weather, flooding, and local emergencies.  Please select the link below to register to receive the emergency alerts or community information via text, e-mail, or phone.
