| | Cause for Paws
Cause for Paws is a non-profit, 501©(3), organization that was formed in 1999 by a group of citizens to effect changes in the local animal shelter.
Money raised by the organization goes back into the shelter to provide items the City and County do not cover in the annual budget.
Because of Cause for Paws and the generous donations made to the organization, the following has been provided for the animals in the shelter.
The organization works closely with the staff of the Lockhart Animal Shelter to determine what needs can be met. Various fundraisers have been held in attempt to raise the funds for these needs. Currently, the most pressing need is a cover over the outside two kennels.
One of the primary goals of the organization was to research and obtain funding for a new shelter that would serve all of Caldwell County. A feasibility study was done and a copy can be obtained at the address below. Several grants have been applied for but so far, all have been denied.
