| | Mandatory Outside Watering Restrictions Starting June 15, 2008 During the month of May, the peak water use by Lockhart residents and businesses reached a point (2.56 million gallons per day for three (3) days in a row) that mandatory outside water restrictions will become effective under the Water Conservation Plan or Drought Contingency Plan beginning the week of June 15, 2008.
Outside watering can only take place between 8 pm and 8 am on the following days as designated by customer type:
Commercial, Multi-family (four-plex units and above) Tuesday and/or Friday
Residential Odd-numbered addresses (last # in address) Wednesday and/or Saturday
Residential Even-numbered addressed (last # in address) Thursday and/or Sunday
+Outside watering can only be done with sprinklers and/or automatic irrigation systems of any type between 8 pm to 8 am on the above scheduled days.
+Outside watering with an attended hand held hose or bucket at any time and on any day is allowed.
+Washing of sidewalks, driveways, parking areas or other paved surfaces is prohibited except to alleviate an immediate health or safety hazard.
+Restriction variances can only be considered after receipt of reasons in writing addressed to the City Manager or designee and shall not be considered solely on the basis of convenience of the customer.
Like many communities in Texas, water restrictions have become a reality during the summer months and for some it is year around. The City of Lockhart has sufficient water sources, but conservation is essential to ensure that these resources will be there for years to come.
