Recreation in the Lockhart Area

There are many fun activities you can take advantage of in the Lockhart Area.

The City Park has a large fishing pond (pictured), an amphitheater stage for performances, a Skateboard Park, Swimming Pool, and a Sports Complex which hosts various sports activities such as baseball, little league, and soccer. The City Park is home to annual events such as July 4th Celebration, Chisholm Trail Roundup, Kidfish, and the Bicycle Rodeo. There are a total of eight parks within the City, they are as follows: Arrendondo, Braun, City Park, Lions Park, Navarro, Maple Street, Nueces, and Pecos.
Lockhart High School also has a football and softball field with a walking/running track and tennis courts.

The City has six miles of pedestrian walkways that connect schools, parks, and the historic central business district. The
Lockhart Springs Walkway is a system of sidewalks and hike/bike trails made up of concrete paths and is ADA compliant. Enjoy a leisurely stroll from S. Commerce Street to Pecos Street between two parks.

Horseback riding and Polo is available in the outlying areas of the County which offer additional recreational opportunities.

Lockhart has a six screen movie theater,
Hometown Cinemas, located at 120 W. MLK, Sr. Industrial Blvd.

Gaslight-Baker Theatre is a very active community theatre with a large variety of comedy, drama, and musical productions annually. The Gaslight-Baker encourages all that are interested to volunteer and help in the many areas of production.

A local musical event, "Lockhart Opry," is held the fourth Monday of each month and is sponsored by the Lockhart Evening Lions Club. This event is held at the Lockhart Evening Lions Community Center, 220 Bufkin Lane.

Lockhart is the "BBQ Capital of Texas." Please take the time to view our famous barbecue restaurants along side our numerous restaurants. The Lockhart Municipal Airport will allow you to fly in, eat BBQ, and see all that Lockhart has to offer.
