The Texas Workforce Commission ("TWC") is the entity responsible for enforcing the Fair Housing Act in the State of Texas. You have one year after an alleged violation to file a complaint, but you should file it as soon as possible. Go to https://www.twc.texas.gov/programs/civil-rights to file a complaint.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
CITY OF LOCKHART has received a Community Development Block Grant - Mitigation
(CDBG-MIT) Method of Distribution (MOD) contract under the Texas General Land Office (GLO). The CITY OF LOCKHART will comply with
the Civil Rights requirements of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act
and the Fair Housing Law and ensure that equal opportunities are afforded to all persons
and that no person shall be excluded or denied program benefits on the basis of race, color,
religion, sex, disability, familial status, and national origin. CITY OF LOCKHART has established
policies, plans and resolutions for the following:

• Section 3 Policy • Fair Housing
• Affirmative Action• Excessive Force Policy • Citizen Participation Plan

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: FAIR HOUSING, IT’S THE LAW
To promote fair housing practices, CITY OF LOCKHART encourages potential homeowners and
renters to be aware of their rights under the National Fair Housing Law. Title VIII of the Civil
Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis
of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin in the sale or rental
of units in the housing market. For more information on fair housing or to report possible

POLICY OF NONDISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF DISABILITY
CITY OF LOCKHART does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the admission or access
to, or treatment or employment in, its federally assisted programs or activities. Lew White,
Mayor of the CITY OF LOCKHART, has been designated to coordinate compliance with the
nondiscrimination requirements contained in the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) regulations implementing Section 504 (24 CFR Part 8. Date June, 1988).

CITIZEN PARTICIPATION & GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES NOTICE
FOR THE GLO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT-MIT MOD PROGRAM

CITY OF LOCKHART has adopted complaint and grievance procedures regarding its Community
Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) MOD Program. Citizens may obtain a
Copy of these written procedures from the Mayor, Lew White at the
CITY OF LOCKHART City Hall located at 308 West San Antonio Street, Lockhart, TX 78644-2656, or by calling 512-398-3461, during regular business hours. These procedures outline the steps for a citizen to follow if he/she wishes to file a complaint or grievance about GLO CDBG-MIT MOD activities. A person who has a complaint or grievance about any services or activities with respect to the GLO CDBG-MIT MOD project may, during regular business hours, submit such complaint or grievance, in writing to Lew White at the CITY OF LOCKHART
City Hall located at 308 West San Antonio Street, Lockhart, TX 78644-2656, or by calling 512-398-3461. CITY OF LOCKHART will make every effort to respond fully to such complaints or grievances within fifteen (15) working days where practicable after receipt of the original complaint or grievance.
