  • Schedule of Acceptable Fines

    Add $25 to any violation committed in a school zone.

    Fines are doubled in a “Construction Zone with Workers Present.”

    Persons 16 years of age or younger at the time of the offense are required by law to appear before the Judge with a parent or legal guardian.

    Out of town checks not accepted. 

    Fines are considered early if paid on or before the appearance date of your citation.

  • Persons 16 years of age or younger at the time of the offense are required by law to appear before the Judge with a parent or legal guardian.


    A driver that holds a commercial driver's license is NOT eligible for a driving safety course

     

    You are eligible to take a Driving Safety/Motorcycle/Seat belt Safety Course if you:

        1. Submit a plea of nolo contendre or guilty on or before your appearance date.

        2. Provide a copy of your valid Texas driver's license.
        3. Show proof of liability insurance.
        4. You have not taken a course in the past twelve (12) months,

              and are not in the process of taking the course for another offense.
        5. Pay the court cost's and fees with the court.


    An Occupant and Child passenger Safety course may be taken for ticket dismissal on any seat belt/child restraint violation.

    The following violations do not qualify for any safety course:

    • Speeding 25 mph or over posted limit.
    • Passing a school bus loading or unloading.
    • Any violation in a construction zone with workers present.
    • Leaving the scene of an accident.
    • Fail to stop and render aid.

    Court costs and fees for violations as of January 1, 2020:

        Speeding in a school zone $169

        All other moving violations $144

    Your request must be postmarked by your scheduled appearance date.

    Once you are approved for a safety course by the Court, you will receive further instructions for completing your requirements by mail. You will have 90 days to complete the requirements and return them to the court.

  • Deferred Disposition

    ** Persons 16 years of age or younger at the time of the offense are required by law to appear before the Judge with a parent or legal guardian.

     

    Deferred disposition is a process which the judge requires a defendant to adhere to certain conditions. If a defendant successfully completes the terms of the deferral, the case will be dismissed.

    Terms of a deferral may include but are not limited to:

    • refraining from committing future violations during a specified time period
    • completing a drivers safety course or other approved course
    • completing a specified number of community service hours
    • providing proof of monthly insurance
    • paying a $50 deferral fee


    If the defendant fails to comply with the conditions of the court order a conviction will be imposed.

     
    reasons you may not be granted a deferred disposition:

    • you hold a commercial drivers license
    • you have a violation in a construction zone
    • you were speeding at an excessive speed (25 MPH over the posted limit)

    If the Judge grants your request, the court will notify you via mail of your deferral conditions and the fees assessed.

  • These violations require a mandatory court appearance before the judge if:

    • The offender is under the age of 21 at the time of the offense
    • The offender is 16 years of age and younger must appear before the judge with his/her parents or legal guardian.

  • Juror Information

    The defendant, the prosecutor, the public, and our system of justice, all require that a fair jury, one without bias or prejudice, and free of opinion as to the guilt or innocence of the defendant, be chosen. A fair jury is one that, not having heard any of the evidence, is not committed to either side. A fair jury is one that is impartial to both sides and that can and will follow the as given by the court.

    Potential Jurors:

    • If you have received a juror summons and would like to claim one of the exemptions listed on the summons, please circle the exemption and return the summons to the court.

    • Please call the court at 512-398-8330 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. the business day prior to the date you are scheduled for jury service to ensure that the trial has not been canceled.

    • If you are not exempt but need a continuance due to prior commitments, e.g., travel plans, doctor or hospital appointments, please bring proof to the court and speak with a judge or the court administrator.

    • Work cannot be used as an excuse for a continuance and only a judge may speak with you about a work related request.

    If you fail to appear for jury service you may be held in contempt of court and fined $100.

  • Extensions are commonly used when a person needs no more than 30 days to make a payment in full on one or more violations with out any additional fees being added. If a person fails to make payment in full on the violation(s), a $15 time payment fee will be added to each violation(s) on the 31st day.

     

    Selecting to make an extension on your violation(s) to the court will report as a conviction for your violation(s)

    • Payment Plans are offered to persons who would like to pay off a violation(s) over a period of time with monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly payment options to the court. Upon electing this option please note that a $15 time payment fee will be applied to each violation on the payment arrangement.

      Selecting to make payments on a payment plan to the court will report as a conviction for your violation(s)
