Fire Investigations

The fire marshal is responsible for investigation of all fires within the city limits of Lockhart. The cause and origin of fires is important to determine potential problems with equipment, human error, processes, flammable products, and arson fires. By investigating cause and origin new codes and public education programs can be refined.

Pre-Fire Plans

Reviews of high hazard or target commercial building for operational preparedness.  Firefighters or assigned to suppression duties will conduct these surveys and create a pre-fire plan for use by all fire service personnel.  The completed plans will be accessible electronically to personnel for review.  While not an official fire inspection, fire suppression personnel will make recommendations on fire safety issues and provide a copy of the "25 Common 2015 IFC Violations" for owner/occupant review.

Community Outreach

Public fire education is an important part of the prevention of fires. Programs include fire extinguisher training, fire station tours, apparatus demonstrations, community events, and health fairs. Our goal is to educate elementary age children in the Lockhart ISD. Every year in October, fire personnel visit all all elementary schools to deliver fire safety messages and distribute fire safety materials. Request a fire safety presentation online or call Fire Administration at 512-398-2321.
