COVID-19 booster shots available in Lockhart for immunocompromised individuals
09/01/2021

In accordance to the CDC’s latest COVID-19 vaccine guidelines, a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are recommended to people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised eight months after the initial two doses. Per the CDC, you are considered immunocompromised if:

  • You have been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood.
  • You received an organ transplant and are taking medication that suppresses the immune system.
  • You received a stem cell transplant within the last two years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.
  • You have moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
  • You have an advanced or untreated HIV infection.
  • You are going through active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response.

**If you’re not sure if you’re eligible for a booster shot. Consult with your doctor. If you’re eligible, keep reading.

COVID-19 booster shots for Moderna and Pfizer vaccine recipients are available at the Scott Annex (1403 Blackjack St.) every day 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until October 9. You will have to be able to prove that you are considered immunocompromised by filling out a form at the site. Visit the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management’s website for updates.

Also, several Lockhart vaccine providers also have boosters available upon publication. These are subject to change, so it’s best to call them and check. They are the following:

  • Express Pharmacy (1724 S. Colorado St.): Pfizer doses are available. If you’re a regular patient, they will review your profile to determine if you’re considered immunocompromised.
