Looking to get a generator installed for your home? Here are a few things you need to know
11/02/2021

February’s winter weather event generated increased interest in Texans looking for back up energy sources, like generators. With temperatures cooling down again, having a standby generator installed for your home and/or business may have crossed your mind. If so, here are a few things you’ll need to do, according to Lockhart City Code:

  1. Apply for a building and electric permit before installation.
  2. Hire an electrician, who is licensed by the State of Texas, to install your generator.
  3. Installation plans must be designed by a licensed engineer, which include the connection of an approved automatic load break switch (ALBS) that can separate the City of Lockhart’s (COL) electrical system from the generator’s system.
