Garbage Collection

 

NOTE: Beginning the week of March 31, 2025, the solid waste collection schedule will go from three days a week to four days a week. Those four days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Recycling services will be done every other week on Wednesdays. The updated collection schedule is below.

Collection Schedule

Your collection day is determined by the quadrant of town in which you live. Days and corresponding dividing streets are:

 

Monday: This area covers west of Colorado St., south of State Park Rd., east of Colorado St., and south of Flores St.

 

 

Tuesday: This area covers north of W. San Antonio St. to city limits west of Colorado St., north of Flores St., and east of Colorado St.

 

 

Thursday: This area covers west of San Jacinto St. to city limits, south of W. San Antonio St., and north of State Park Rd.

 

Friday: This area covers east of San Jacinto St., south of W. San Antonio St., north of State Park Rd., and west of Colorado St.

 

To check if your solid waste collection schedule has been changed, please refer to the map below. 

 

Map Key:
Blue section: Monday
Orange section: Tuesday
Purple section: Thursday
Yellow section: Friday

Garbage Service Rates

Residential
$18.50 per month (hand collection)

There is a $6.05 per month fee to receive one additional garbage cart (Residential Only).

Senior citizens (65 or older) can apply for a residential exemption of $12.10 on garbage services reflected on their City utility bill.

Commercial

  • Hand Collection - $34.04 per month (generating 240 gallons or less of solid waste weekly that have been designated as hand collection).
  • Stand Alone Bin - Charged according to the current contract the city has with its agent plus all applicable fees approved by City Council (generating 240 gallons or more).
  • Combo Bin - Charged according to the current contract the city has with its agent plus all applicable fees approved by City Council (generating 240 gallons or more).

 

Brush Chipping and Bulky Item Removal

(Service charges will be added to the customer's utility bill.)

Armful - Free
Brush material should be in a bundle, not bagged. Anything larger than an armful will be charged $40.00 per hour (Charged at minimum $10.00 per each quarter hour.)

Per Lockhart City Code, the City will collect brush piles of up to 12 cubic yards, which is approximately 6'x9'x6', or 6'x18'x3'. 

 

 

Brush piles greater than 12 cubic yards must be handled by a contractor or taken to an approved landfill, such as the SH 130 Environmental Park. Please refer to the Brush Chipping Schedule below to determine when pickup services will be in your district:

NOTE: If the brush trimming was performed by an independent contractor, they are responsible for brush collection and disposal.

 

**For the safety of our streets, crew, and your fellow residents, please don't bring your brush out to the sidewalk sooner than ONE WEEK before your district's scheduled brush pickup. Make sure your brush pile is unobstructed by a vehicle or any other items to allow our crew to access the brush.

 

Bulky Item Removal
Lumber, appliances, furniture, leaves, household items, etc. $10.00 per cubic yard.  A maximum of 7 bags of leaves can be placed curbside without an additional charge. Eight bags or more will be collected at the rate of $10.00 per cubic yard.  Customers wanting bulky pick-up should call Central Texas Refuse directly at 1-800-664-2833.

Items not accepted curbside pick-up are paint, paint thinner, herbicides, pesticides, tires, concrete, etc. 

Dumpster Rental
Central Texas Refuse provides our commercial container service. If you are interested in a dumpster for business or commercial use, contact the Public Works Department.

If you are interested in a roll off (the big construction dumpster) contact a Refuse company directly.

Hazardous Materials Pick-Up
The Public Works Department does not pick up hazardous materials.
