CALDWELL COUNTY, TX, 01 NOVEMBER 2022 – Caldwell County has approved a new emergency air
medical transportation membership agreement with PHI Cares. The agreement will provide air medical
transport benefits for all residents of Caldwell County when they are transported by a PHI Air Medical
aircraft in the region. The new agreement began November 1st, 2022.
“The County’s participation in the PHI Air Medical Membership Program benefits every man, woman
and child in the county,” said Caldwell County Judge Hoppy Haden. “We’re pleased to be able to work
with PHI Health and offer this potentially lifesaving service that, in the event a Caldwell County resident
needs to use it, will save them thousands of dollars.”
“Medical access continues to be an ongoing
struggle for rural communities throughout the nation, including ours,” said Lockhart Mayor Lew White.
“Lockhart’s participation in PHI Air Medical’s Membership program helps change that by ensuring our
citizens have access to critical medical services at a lower cost, whether they are at home or in
neighboring communities.”
C.J. Watts, Mayor of Luling, also expressed her comments. “The City of Luling
is very pleased to be able to work with PHI Air Medical Membership Program to offer this service to the
citizens of Luling. This is a very important benefit that could save lives and save money for all family
members.”
The PHI Air Medical membership program, called PHI Cares, supports all the households and residents of
Caldwell County, Texas. With the launch of this agreement, Caldwell County residents will not be
required to pay any additional out-of-pocket expense for their emergency air medical transportation
when a PHI Air Medical aircraft in the region transports them from Caldwell County or a surrounding
county, including Bastrop, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Travis and Fayette counties.
Residents should always call 911 first when they have a medical emergency. The 911 dispatchers are
well trained at assessing the medical needs of each caller and will determine if a ground or air
ambulance is necessary. If a resident is transported by a PHI Air Medical Aircraft, they should notify the
PHI Cares membership department at 1.888.I.Fly.PHI (1.888.435.9744) and provide them with the
Caldwell County PHI Cares membership number, #61002, and their date of transport.
PHI Air Medical will be providing Caldwell County with membership cards which include a unique PHI
Cares membership number. Residents may obtain their PHI Cares membership cards from the following
