The Lockhart City Council officially canvassed the results of the recent Special Election and welcomed Venessa M. Gutierrez as the newest member of the City Council. Gutierrez was formally sworn into office during a special City Council meeting held on May 12.

During the meeting, the City also recognized outgoing Councilmember John Castillo for his service, dedication, and contributions to the Lockhart community during his time on the Council. City leaders thanked Castillo for his commitment to public service and his work supporting initiatives that helped move Lockhart forward.

City leaders, staff, family members, and community supporters gathered to mark the occasion and celebrate Gutierrez’s commitment to serving the residents of Lockhart. As she begins her term, Gutierrez joins the Council in helping guide important decisions that shape the future of the community, including infrastructure improvements, economic development, public services, and quality of life initiatives for residents.
